The City of Parks – Malmö, Sweden

Travel Recommendations: Malmö, Sweden

Length of Stay

One full day is all you need here. The city is not very large so one full day will probably suffice. Be mindful of opening time. Things didn’t seem to open until 11 AM.

Transportation

The city is quite walkable with plenty of public transportation.

Lodging

We did not stay the night in Malmö but think an Air BnB/rental would be lovely.

Clothing

Be prepared for it to rain any day....

Pearl of the Danube – Budapest, Hungary

Travel Recommendations: Budapest, Hungary

Length of Stay

Budapest is a very large city but you can definitely fit most of the tourist destinations in 2 days. I would say 3 if you want to go into more museums or experience more ruin bars.

Transportation

The city is easy to get around by foot but they also have several options for public transit. Be careful getting a cab. We were told they will charge you way more than what the ride should cost.

City of Churches – Adelaide, Australia

Travel Recommendations: Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

Length of Stay

I would recommend at least two to three full days to visit Adelaide (depending on what you want to do). You can check out the city in a couple hours and visit the local beach. This should also give you enough time to check out the wine country.

Transportation

There is a bus system and a few light rail/rail lines. However, compared to other cities it doesn’t seem as accessible via...

The Great Barrier Reef – Cairns, Australia

Travel Recommendations: Cairns, Queensland, Australia

Length of Stay

If you are like anyone else visiting Cairns, you are going there for the reef and hopefully you are SCUBA certified. Spend at least 3 full days. This will give you time to coordinate diving trips to the reef and maybe stay on a liveaboard so you can do some night dives. If you are diving, don’t forget to build in a few extra days to decompress so you don’t get the bends...

I would recommend a minimum of three full days to visit Sydney. This will allow you to check out the city and the attractions. You can also do a day trip out to nearby sites like Manly Beach and Bondi Beach.

Transportation

There are plenty of options (trains, buses, ferries, and light rail) for public transit in the city. Take the opportunity to also walk around and visit the local...

At least three full days.

You are on your own here; there is no public transit and no taxi service.

There are several lodging options. You can "rough it" and backpack in a camp or reserve a spot at a camping park, or you can stay at a ranch-style hotel, regular hotel, or resort. I do...

Hotel or Vacation Rental

We have more accessibility to lodging than we have ever before. With phone applications you can easily search and reserve the ideal place to stay while on our vacation. The question has come up for me, Hotel or Rental through AirBnB/Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO)?

I have stayed at both a hotel and rented an apartment. However, there are always pros and cons to staying at either type of lodging. To help decide where to stay on your next adventure, I have added what I like and dislike...
